Abstract:

The devices and platforms that represent the opportunities for 2020 will undoubtedly include the building blocks of what we today call Compute and Communications. Intel's leadership in each of these categories, combined with our vision for the Computing Continuum, will undoubtedly help shape and drive the experiences for new platforms, new applications, and new uses of the Mobile Internet that today exist only as an idea. Please join Sriram Viswanathan, Intel Vice President and General Manager of their Wireless business, as he discusses the underlying vision, components, manufacturing capabilities and semiconductor advancements required to turn these ideas into reality.


Bio:

Sriram Viswanathan is Vice President of Intel Architecture Group, and the GM of the WiMAX Program Office. As the head of the WiMAX Program Office, he is responsible for the overall strategy and implementation of Intel's efforts with Service Providers to enable the deployment of WiMAX Networks globally. In this capacity he is the corporate focal point for our customers and business partners in this strategic effort for Intel.


Prior to this role, he was the Managing Director of the Mobility Sectors, in Intel Capital where he was responsible for investments on a worldwide basis for the mobile content and services sector, mobile communications sector and mobile platforms sector.


Previously, Viswanathan served in a variety of positions for Intel Capital, including director of the eHome and broadband sectors and director of the mobile communications sector. He also served as director for the Hollywood/media programs, leading Intel's activities in the media industry in support of Intel's content efforts.


He is active in many industry organizations including The Indus Entrepreneur (TiE) as a charter member. He is also on the board of Relief International/Schools Online, a non-profit organization involved in driving ICT development and sustainability on a global basis.


Viswanathan joined Intel in 1993 as a technical marketing engineer for corporate demos, responsible for showcasing Intel's leading technologies in industry events supporting Intel's Executive Office.


Viswanathan has degrees in Physics, Computer Science and Automation from the American College and the Indian Institute of Science respectively. He received a master's degree from UCLA Anderson School of Business in 1997.
